The Boston Redevelopment Authority has approved a major development project near Fenway Park. Once known as “The Fenway Point”, the mixed-use project has now been rebranded as “The Pierce Boston”.

The 30-story tower will be one of the tallest buildings in the Fenway neighborhood. The development will consist of over 20,000 square feet of street-level retail space, with luxury residential units above. When completed, there will be 100 condos for sale and 240 apartments for rent. There will also be underground parking available for residents to use.

While much of the development in Boston’s recent building boom has been focused in Downtown and in Back Bay, the Fenway neighborhood has also seen it’s fair share of new development proposals. The Pierce will be located across the street from the Landmark Center, which is due for a major facelift. Developers have proposed to turn the Landmark Center into a major destination and move the large parking lot under ground, in order to create a new park.

Future residents of The Pierce will have easy access to the shops and restaurants at the Landmark Center as well as close proximity to the sports bars and restaurants surrounding Fenway Park.

The triangular-shaped plot where the tower is to be built is currently filled with a one-story building that has started to decay. The Pierce will revitalize the area with new shops, new sidewalks and new lighting. The unique look of the building was designed by a world famous architecture firm and has already received praise from many in the community.
